Southland DHB announces youth health one-stop shop

Southland DHB Announces its Decision on Funding for Southland’s Youth Health One Stop Shop

Southland District Health Board (DHB) Chairman Paul Menzies announced today that Southland DHB regrets it is unable to provide much needed funding to secure the future of the Southland Youth Health One Stop Shop (also known as Number 10).

“Following lengthy discussion at yesterday’s Board meeting, in a split vote, the Board agreed due to its dire financial position and indications the position was likely to worsen next year, it simply did not have the resources to be able to support the request from other community funders to co-fund Number 10,” said Mr Menzies.

“We recognise Number 10 provides a very valuable service to young people in our community, and that without our financial support the service is likely to end, however, given our dire financial position we are unfortunately not in a position to assist.”

“We would like to acknowledge Number 10’s many achievements and we sincerely hope a solution for continued community funding is found.”
