Purple Day for Epilepsy Awareness
26 March 2010 is Purple Day, the day dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy.
Tunstall Healthcare the world’s leading provider of telehealthcare supports Purple Day and people living with epilepsy by helping them and their carers to handle the challenges of epilepsy.
Elaine’s son has tuberous sclerosis and epilepsy, requiring Elaine to be nearby during the night in case he experiences a seizure.
Elaine’s son also has a weight problem, making him too heavy to carry upstairs to the bedrooms. Consequently Elaine has to sleep downstairs with her son.
Tunstall installed an epilepsy sensor that is placed between his mattress and sheet, and a pager and personal alarm for Elaine.
If Elaine’s son experiences a seizure Elaine’s pager is activated.
Elaine is then able to use her personal alarm to call for assistance while she helps her son.
Tunstall’s epilepsy sensor, pager and personal alarm has allowed Elaine to sleep in her own room knowing she will be alerted if her son experiences a seizure and to spend more time with her other children during the day.
Tunstall provides a range of custom telehealthcare solutions that assist people with special needs, such as Elaine and her son to live as normal a life as possible.
