Fighting Spirit
Struggling To Survive
Not ready to die, Angela Taituma at 36 years old is asking for support with her fight against secondary breast cancer to the brain and is struggling to find the $2763 needed every fortnight for her treatment.
Angela is experiencing her second fight against cancer, and recently started the non-funded HER2 targeted treatment Tykerb which requires 70 tablets (5 a day) and costs $2763 every two weeks and is hoping to raise $66,312.00 all together. Angela has organised many fundraising events with the help of friends and family and is currently planning an auction of donated items to help with funding, but she is finding her luck is running out.
Angela explains “I know I am only one individual and not the only one in this unfortunate situation”, but says her beautiful four year old son is her reason for living and why she must fight this disease.
Having started the treatment with previously raised money, already the results have come back positive. On 5th March 2010 the follow-up MRI showed that there has been a slight decrease in size and number of cerebral metastasis (meaning the treatment is working). This ounce of happiness is only short-lived if Angela is unable to raise the rest of the required money to carry on with treatments.
Her website
www.fightingspirit.co.nz shows a
detailed account of Angela’s story and the many procedures
she has endured with heart-wrenching messages from friends
and family. Donations are welcomed whole-heartedly with
details on where the money has come from and where it goes.
The real struggle for Angela is maintaining a steady stream
of fundraising while raising her son.
Angela
desperately needs help to maintain her fighting spirit. Her
message is:
Life is worth living, Life is worth the
fight.
I’m not ready to die, I’m 36 years old, a big
whanau girl, I have a beautiful 4 year old son, Marlon Anaru
Lawrence Drummond, my reason for living, my reason to fight
this disease. I want to be there for my baby’s first
everythings, I’m his world, he is mine.
