Health Minister to open new Nelson Plunket
Health Minister Tony Ryall to open new Nelson Plunket premises
Health Minister the Hon. Tony Ryall will
open Nelson/Marlborough/Westland Plunket’s new premises on
Friday.
The building, which previously housed Nelson Nursing Service, is in Annesbrook, Nelson.
Nelson/Marlborough Volunteer Services Leader Jan Fryer says Nelson Plunket is in the middle of a busy and exciting growth phase.
“We have completely outgrown our existing building and have also added extra staff due to the growth we’re undergoing. I am thrilled to see Plunket build capacity to meet the changing needs of the community,” she says.
“We have had staff working in our kitchen so we are so looking forward to having the space to spread out and being able to more effectively provide our services.”
Mrs Fryer says community-driven initiatives including grants from The Lion Foundation, Canterbury Community Trust and the Nelson City Council have played a major role in allowing for the expansion.
The area – which covers Nelson, Marlborough and the West Coast – has employed two new community support workers, a safety officer, and expanded its parent education programme.
The new premises at 607 Waimea Road, Annesbrook, Nelson will be opened on Friday 30 April at 1.45pm by Health Minister the Hon. Tony Ryall.
