Hospital Revue - Die Laughing raises $15,000 for charities

Two Waikato charities are the recipients of $7500 each thanks to the questionable artistic talents of Waikato District Health Board (DHB) staff.

For three nights in August they put on a show at Hamilton’s Clarence Street Theatre to raise money for Assistance Dogs and the Waikato branch of Autism NZ. All had a great time.

Waikato DHB chief executive Craig Climo presented cheques to each of the charities last week.

“I went to the show and it was a ‘top class’ performance. I applaud their courage to perform and acknowledge the time and effort imposed on the organising team and cast to do this for charity,” he said.

All proceeds are available for distribution to charitable organisations and smaller charities are chosen that typically miss out on main stream funding.

Assistance Dogs Charitable Trust provides dogs for a range of disabilities rather than catering for one specific disability. This allows dog training to cater to an individual’s requirements regardless of what their impairments might be. e.g. children with autism.

Autism Charitable Trust will look forward to continuing running the services for families in the Waikato with holiday programmes, teenagers with autism groups and employing a field worker to work with families in crisis.
