Supper Club event generates
nearly $15,000 for the Christchurch-based charity
Queenstown became host to an evening of
simultaneous dinner parties last night, in an exclusive
mystery dining event that raised nearly $15,000 for Ronald
McDonald House South Island.
Supper Club saw a number of the town’s top restaurants open their doors to a table of eight guests for the evening – not only donating their time and expertise, but also the ingredients needed to prepare a three course meal.
Participating guests did not know where they were dining, or who was to be cooking for them, until it was revealed by way of a random draw during a pre-dinner cocktail function at Skyline Queenstown.
A fundraising auction was also held on the night, with big-ticket items such as exclusive weekends away in Auckland and Tekapo going to the highest bidder.
All of the proceeds go straight to Ronald McDonald House South Island, which provides accommodation and support to families with children in need of hospital care in Christchurch. Families are never charged for their stay.
Some 26% of families that need to stay at the House come from the Southern District Health Board region, encompassing Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes area.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the overwhelming level of support shown to the House at Supper Club last night,” says Emma Jones, Ronald McDonald House South Island’s General Manager.
“All of the restaurants went above and beyond in ensuring their guests had a memorable evening, and we are truly grateful for such generosity.”
The participating restaurants were Skyline Queenstown, Botswana Butchery, Gantleys, Wakatipu Grill at The Hilton, The Millhouse at Millbrook, True South Dining Room at The Rees, Wai Waterfront Restaurant, threesixty at Crowne Plaza, Wild Thyme at Skycity Casino, Ben Lomond at Rydges, and Barmuda.
