CareFusion to Showcase Innovative Technologies

CareFusion to Showcase Innovative Technologies at HIMSS AsiaPac12

Mount Elizabeth Novena has opened its doors as the first, new private hospital to be built in Singapore in more than 30 years, and it is the first to implement innovative medication and supply management technologies that will enhance patient safety and outcomes.

Mount Elizabeth Novena has implemented Pyxis(R) Medication Technologies and Pyxis(R) Perioperative Solutions from CareFusion that will help enhance patient safety and increase efficiency for doctors and nurses to enable them to spend more time caring for patients.

"CareFusion's unique technologies not only help improve patient safety and reduce the cost of health care, but are able to seamlessly interface with a hospital's existing health care IT systems," said Prasanna Parthasarathy, vice president of Medical Systems International for CareFusion. "As health care continues to evolve through the digital revolution, it will become more and more important for devices to interface with each other and provide data back to clinicians that create actionable intelligence to improve patient care."

CareFusion offerings implemented at Mount Elizabeth Novena include:

-- Pyxis MedStation(R) system ( http://www.carefusion.com/medical-products/medication-management/medication-technologies/ ): An automated medication dispensing system that helps clinicians ensure the right medication with the right dose gets to the right patient at the right time. The system, which has units on every ward of Mount Elizabeth Novena, also automates documentation and increases the predictability of medication availability to reduce inefficiencies in the medication use process. -- BlisPack(R) device ( http://media.carefusion.com/index.php?s=32344&item=106616 ): The first robotic system for creating unit doses from blister sheets. The device increases safety in the identification, cutting and overwrapping of blister packaged medications into unit doses and is a highly efficient and valuable ally for hospital pharmacy professionals in medication dispensing and administration.** -- Pyxis ProcedureStation(R) system ( http://www.carefusion.com/medical-products/supply-management/ ): An automated supply dispensing system that provides rapid access to supplies in every operating room at Mount Elizabeth Novena. The system enables secure and easy access to needed supplies, a reduction in inventory outages and the ability to charge supply usage directly to the patient billing system in real-time. Through operating room information systems (ORIS) integration capabilities, clinicians can reduce time spent manually documenting supply use — creating more time for patient care.
