A better place for patients and staff

A better place for patients and staff

When Hands, Burns and Scar Therapy moved into the Meade Clinical Centre three weeks ago it also meant they amalgamated their whole therapy team.

Team leader Rebecca Ralph says the shift has been great for the clinic and their patients, some who come for their treatment ranging from weeks to years.

“The patients are really happy with the new environment. The new surroundings are so clean and professional," says Rebecca.

“And we’re all happy because we are together as a team at last."

One of the most significant changes in the Meade Clinical Centre move for them is they are now “paper light" and they are finding big benefits.

The doctors have instant access to the notes and letters the therapists need to write, which makes for increased and almost instant communication.

The older staff have also enjoyed embracing the new technologies, and the younger ones are “helping teach the old ones new tricks".

They feel the patients are enjoying the onestop-shop approach and the outpatient tracking board has helped provide a more streamlined clinic.

Their patients include GP referrals, hospital patients and outpatients.

Patient Patricia Lakbal has been getting treatment in the Hand, Burns and Scar clinic since March. Now she gets a text appointment reminder and likes the new set up with the comfort of the familiar face of her therapist Carolyn Palmer.
