Woman Flown Off Tongariro Crossing
This afternoon the Greenlea rescue helicopter from taupo was called to the Tongariro alpine crossing to a 69 year old woman with a badly injured wrist. The injury occurred at the highest and most distant point of the crossing from the road.
Weather conditions at the time were windy and cold with passing cloud. Fortunately the helicopter was able to briefly land near the woman who was flown to Taupo hospital.
