Local Doctor invests in new technology
Nelson Appearance Medicine specialist and Phlebologist, Dr David Orsbourn is the only medical specialist in the top of the South Island to have acquired a VenaCure 1470 Laser Machine, brand new technology offering enhanced Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) to treat Varicose Veins.
The machine offers more modern wavelength technology by allowing for more efficient transfer of energy to the vein, resulting in excellent vein closure rates, minimal postoperative discomfort and bruising, and a clear reduction in symptom severity over the follow-up period.
Dr Orsbourn has an extensive medical background in general practice, musculoskeletal disorders, obstetrics and appearance medicine. He has been offering EVLT in Nelson at his “enhanceskin” practice for the past year, and has recently made history by becoming the first Doctor to offer EVLT in Blenheim, at Churchill Trust Private Hospital. He says, “Varicose vein procedures have, over the past year, become a significant area of work for our practice. I am always looking for ways that will improve my patient’s treatment, and investment in this new technology seemed a logical step for us to take.”
The VenaCure 1470 laser’s light energy is delivered through a NeverTouch gold-tip fibre. It is more readily absorbed by the water in the blood and endothelial lining than is the case with other wavelengths. The machine is in operation at the “enhanceskin” clinic in Buxton Square and Dr Orsbourn’s regular clinic at Churchill Trust Private Hospital in Blenheim.
