NZMA commends Government for food labelling step
The New Zealand Medical
Association (NZMA) commends the Government for supporting
the introduction of a food labelling system to help inform
New Zealanders about their food choices.
“This is one of 10 recommendations made by the NZMA in our recently released policy briefing on tackling the obesity epidemic,” says NZMA Chair Dr Mark Peterson.
“Clear, consistent and easily understood information will help consumers make the healthy choice, the easy choice. We now need the food industry to step up and ensure that this very positive step is implemented.
Tackling Obesity, the NZMA’s policy briefing on obesity, is available from the NZMA’s website.
