Man winched from forest near Taupo after fall
Friday afternoon at approximately 1pm, the Rotorua based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was despatched to a forest near Mission Bay, South of Taupo.
Reports of a man who had sustained injuries was reported to Ambulance control however due to the location in the forest the helicopter was sent to provide extraction and medical assistance.
When the man was located in amongst a pine plantation a St John Intensive Care paramedic was winched from the Helicopter into the site.
Once stabilised they were both winched back aboard the helicopter which then airlifted the patient to Rotorua Hospital.
A 24 year old Taupo man was in a comfortable condition with leg injuries.
