Car v Power pole, Taumarunui
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Taumarunui, late yesterday evening, to retrieve a couple who were injured when their vehicle collided with a power pole. A 29 year old man, and a 34 year old woman were flown to Waikato Hospital with multiple traumatic injuries as a result of the collision. The woman was apparently ejected from the vehicle in the high-speed crash. Due to the serious nature of the injuries, and the distance involved, the helicopter was the most practical mode of transport.
