Wellington Free Ambulance Annual Appeal: it’s a Onesie of a day
Today is Onesie Day, the launch of Wellington Free Ambulance’s annual appeal.
This appeal weekend, the service are calling on Wellingtonians to ‘be the onesies’ who help keep their local ambulance service free.
As part of the celebrations, WFA chief executive Diana Crossan will be at Rydges Hotel on Featherston Street from 8.00am to 9.00am with other WFA representatives, and Wellington Lions players collecting in their onesies. Rydges will be giving free hot chocolates to anyone who donates to the appeal.
There’ll also be some action at Midland Park from 12.45pm, with free blood pressure tests, a sausage sizzle, and a 1970s retro ambulance on display.
Wellington Lions players, the CE of NZ Fire Service, Paul Baxter, and NZ Police District Commander, Sam Hoyle, will also join the fun in their onesies.
WFA head of fundraising and communications, Diane Livingston, says the support for appeal has already been overwhelming.
“The money we collect during our annual appeal is what helps to keep our vital services right here for our community,” she says.
