Hospice North Shore invites local residents to participate

Hospice North Shore invites local residents to participate in community initiative
Hospice Awareness Week: 16-22 May 2016

“If I had months to live…”

As part of Hospice Awareness Week (16-22 May 2016) Hospice North Shore is putting blackboards up across the North Shore; inviting locals to share what they would do if they had just months to live.

With the support of several local celebrities including Sol3 Mio’s Moses Mackay, Shane Cortese and Hospice North Shore patron Judy Bailey, the campaign urges people to “Live Every Moment”; asking them to complete the sentence “If I had months to live I would……”

The charity aims to engage North Shore residents of all ages to think about what is important to them; inspiring them to do what matters. “Many of the people for whom we care, find that their illness helps them focus on what is really important,” explains Hospice North Shore Chief Executive Jan Nichols. “We believe the advice to Live Every Moment is relevant to everyone; regardless of their age or state of health.”

For some people ticking off things on their bucket list is important. For others creating a legacy may be their focus. And for others it may simply be about creating happy memories.

The charity is asking people to consider the value of Hospice care and to make a donation. “We rely on the generosity of our local community to continue caring for the growing number of people who need our services,” says Jan Nichols. “So fundraising is another important aim of Hospice Awareness Week.”
