HealthCare NZ embraces a sustainable approach
Healthcare of New Zealand Holdings Ltd. (HealthCare NZ) – one of New Zealand’s most experienced providers of health and disability community services, has today announced its decision to move the majority of its existing vehicle fleet to hybrid vehicles.
The initiative will see more than 200 petrol cars replaced with fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles, resulting in an expected reduction in fuel consumption of 20-30 percent.
“This was an easy decision given the amount of travel we do and the benefits we can achieve through the change,” said Donna Mitchell, Head of Strategy and Service Development, HealthCare NZ.
“Our cars travel an average of 25,000 kilometres per year - some as much as 45,000 kilometres per year - so this is an effective way for us to proactively reduce our impact on the environment,” Ms Mitchell says.
Chief Executive Jaimes Wood said the move also supports the recently announced government initiative on low emission vehicles.
“We’re very keen to support programmes like this in a way that is sustainable and appropriate for our organisation. It makes good business sense while also ultimately being better for our environment,” Mr Wood says.
“Our fleet will be replaced over the next few years as contracts expire, starting with an initial change of 10 cars for our subsidiary, Healthcare Rehabilitation Ltd.”
