InformationNZ To Host Free Measles Community Vaccination Clinic For Pacific, Māori And Wider Communities
InformationNZ is proud to host a free measles vaccination clinic open to all members of the community, with a strong focus on supporting Pacific and Māori families. The clinic aims to close critical immunisation gaps and prevent further outbreaks.
Recent measles cases in Wellington and other regions have raised urgent concerns, especially for communities with historically lower vaccination rates. Pacific and Māori whānau face unique challenges to accessing healthcare, including cost, transport, trust in the system, limited health literacy, and a lack of clear understanding about the benefits of vaccination.
“Our clinic is about removing those barriers,” said Muliagatele Bella Bartley, CEO of InformationNZ. “We’re creating a safe, welcoming space where families can walk in, get vaccinated, and receive trusted information in their own languages. Bringing clinics closer to home is also vital—many people simply don’t access services that feel distant or unfamiliar.”
To make the experience even more engaging, we’ve partnered with ConnectNZ to host fun and inclusive activities for the community while they wait for their jab and during the post-vaccination stand-down period. These activities are designed to keep tamariki entertained, support whānau wellbeing, and create a positive, relaxed environment for everyone attending.
The clinic offers free MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccinations for children, teens, and adults. No appointment is needed, and all are welcome.
"Local health providers are supporting the clinic by providing vaccinators and helping ensure it meets national safety standards and aligns with broader public health goals. Their involvement reflects a strong commitment to equity and community-led solutions."
“Getting people protected now will save lives—and save costs in the health system later,” added Bartley. “Preventing measles means fewer hospitalisations, fewer complications, and less strain on our already stretched health services.”
Hence why InformationNZ is also delivering education workshops in churches and community hubs—to inform communities about the benefits of vaccination, answer questions, and build trust through culturally grounded conversations.
