For Northland, Auckland and the Coromandel Peninsula: Mostly cloudy with rain in Northland spreading south during the day.
In the west from Waikato to Taranaki also for Bay of Plenty and the central plateau: Cloud increasing with a few late showers developing from Waikato across to Bay of Plenty but remaining dry elsewhere.
In the east from Gisborne to Wairarapa: Morning cloud and the odd coastal shower clearing and becoming mainly fine.
From Wanganui to Wellington, also for Nelson: Morning cloud clearing and becoming fine.
For Marlborough and Canterbury: Mainly fine after morning cloud And a few coastal showers clear.
For the South Island West Coast: Becoming fine.
For Otago and Southland: Cloud and any remaining coastal showers clearing this morning. Fine and frosty inland.
For the Chatham Islands: Mainly cloudy with showers becoming more frequent for a time.
