Guns, Money & Mentally Ill
MEDIACOM-RELEASE-COUNCIL-OF-LICENCED-FIREARMS
Michael Reeves, President of the N.Z Licensed Firearms Owners (COLFO) said today that our group strongly supports and congratulates the initiative of the Labour Government in providing for a further allocation of funds for the currently dysfunctional mental health system that is urgently in need of both funding and reform.
It is the licenced firearms owners that are constantly stigmatised by the constant misuse of firearms by the mentally ill who themselves are a victim. With the exception of criminal misuse of firearms the second major misuse of firearms was by the mentally ill with the vast majority of amok killings in the last 10 years being committed by persons that were realistically mentally ill.
