Media release – Finance and Expenditure Committee
2000/01 Financial Review of New Zealand Post Limited
Today the Finance and Expenditure Committee decided to seek the leave of the House for an extension of time to report to the House on the 2000/01 financial review of New Zealand Post Limited. It is doing so in order to allow the committee to give further consideration to some matters raised during the financial review.
The committee also decided to initiate an inquiry into issues raised by the 2000/01 financial review of New Zealand Post and the relationship of those issues with Parliament’s ability to scrutinise State enterprises. The financial review process has raised for the committee a number of issues relating to Parliamentary oversight of State enterprises (SOEs). The committee is looking forward to examining these issues through the course of the inquiry.
