Nobel Prize winner endorses Progressive Coalition

Progressive Coalition leader Jim Anderton has welcomed the endorsement of Nobel Prize winner, Professor Alan MacDiarmid.
Professor MacDiarmid won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 2000, the second New Zealander besides Lord Rutherford to earn the honour.
“Professor MacDiarmid has endorsed our approach because of the importance of creating jobs and rising living standards by investing in innovation and working in partnership with industry and communities.
“That partnership is the Progressive Coalition’s top priority in a new government.
“New Zealand is already enjoying the results. 104,000 new jobs in two years and the lowest level of unemployment since 1987.
“Professor MacDiarmid recognises that higher incomes, more jobs and strong social services are all crucially linked.
“New Zealanders are some of the most talented and creative people in the world. If we want to produce more Alan MacDiarmids, we need to invest in services like education, as well as innovation, and we need government to continue to work in partnership with industry and communities,” Jim Anderton said.
