Inquiry into the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries
Commission
(Te Ohu Kai Moana)
Today Parliament’s Mâori Affairs Committee agreed in principle to conduct an inquiry into the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission (Te Ohu Kai Moana). However, it is likely to differ from the inquiry conducted by the previous Mâori Affairs Committee.
The committee will hear evidence from the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission on its new allocation model. It may then consider new terms of reference and how to proceed with the inquiry.
