Review needs to look at NZ’s long-term immigration

Hon Matt Robson MP, Progressive Deputy Leader
Review needs to look at NZ’s long-term immigration needs
“Our government is about to review all aspects of the immigration system including the appeal and removal process. A balanced review will deliver a balanced result,” said Progressive MP Matt Robson.
“However I am very concerned that outbursts by NZ First Leader Winston Peters and his fellow MPs may lead to ill advised proposals for change in an atmosphere of hysteria.
"It is important that our government does not succumb to inflammatory politicking by parties like NZ First," the Progressive MP said.
“The review needs to proceed in a balanced and objective manner which will take into account both New Zealand’s long term need for new settlers and the skills they bring, and policies and practices to treat new settlers even-handedly and fairly.
