Policies should benefit from extra funds

Friday, 19 August 2005

Hon Matt Robson MP, Progressive Deputy Leader

Seniors and housing policies should benefit from extra funds

It is good news that there are extra funds available in the latest Pre Election Fiscal Update, and Progressive supports increased funding support for families. That means more support is available for Progressive Housing and Seniors policies also.

"The Progressive Seniors policy was launched on Tuesday this week. It includes incremental increases to superannuation, a $200 winter power bill supplement and free prescriptions for over 65s (and under 18 year olds).

"Now that the PreFU shows a brighter fiscal situation, due to the Labour Progressive government's good fiscal management - there is now more room to help our seniors. In the new coalition government we will advocate strongly for these increases for them.

"The other good news is that our housing policy - which allows families to capitalise their family support payments to provide a deposit of up to $30,000 on a first home - will now be even more affordable and available to even more families.

"Progressive advocating for more support for Seniors and more help for families wanting to buy their first home. These policies are concrete, effective and affordable," Matt Robson said.
