Labour Progressive provide world's top environment for business AGAIN !

New Zealand has again topped the world in providing the best environment for doing business according to the World Bank's latest report.

Progressive Leader Jim Anderton says "businesses would be mad to get rid of a government that has provided the best environment for business in the world for two years in a row."

The World Bank's 2006 report "Doing Business in 2006 assesses ten indicators (3 new ones): starting a business, hiring and firing workers, enforcing contracts, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, and closing a business, dealing with business licenses, trading across borders, and paying taxes.

"Hard working business people need to ensure that this environment continues by voting Labour Progressive back into office on Saturday September 17th. National has already said it would cut support for individual businesses - and with the huge tax and petrol tax cuts they are planning - that will only be the beginning of the cuts.

"Individual businesses like Flightcell who supplied high-tech communications kits to assist in relief efforts in the New Orleans tragedy would not be supported under National.

"And neither would businesses like Maxcraft New Zealand which supplied boats to help areas affected by the boxing day tsunami. Both of these businesses were assisted in their efforts by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise who prove their worth over and over again by supporting thousands of kiwi businesses.

"It really sends a message to National that it needs to put a sock in it when it comes to whinging about how bad the environment in New Zealand is for business," Jim Anderton said.
