Dunne on the death of Te Arikinui
United Future leader Peter Dunne says the death of Te Arikinui Dame Teatairangikaahu is a loss not only to the Kingitanga and Maoridom, but all of New Zealand.
"Throughout her reign, Dame Te Ata demonstrated the highest qualities of leadership among Maori and among the international dignitaries she charmed so easily and graciously.
"She may have been small in stature, but her cloak of authority cast a very big shadow.
"Her influence on the beneficial development of New Zealand society has been immense and all New Zealanders honour her for those achievements," said Mr Dunne.
