Prostitution Working Group to meet in Auckland on Monday
The Prostitution Working Group (PWG) will be meeting with involved groups on Monday 25 September, from 1pm to 7pm.
The PWG was formed as a condition of the confidence and supply agreement between United Future and Labour to review the Prostitution Reform Act.
Its aim is to address problems associated with street soliciting, under age involvement and local authority control over brothel zoning.
Consequently, the Working Group will be meeting people associated with local businesses, Maori women's groups, anti-prostitution lobby groups, both supporters and opponents of the Manukau City Council (Control of Street Prostitution) Bill, local government and police.
Members of the PWG are Marian Hobbs MP (chair) Gordon Copeland MP and Larry Baldock, former MP. Department of Internal Affairs and Justice officials support the Group.
The PWG will be meeting at the Waipuna Hotel in Mt Wellington, Auckland.
