Harawira Shows Solidarity with the East
Hone Harawira, MP for Te Tai Tokerau and leader of the MANA Political Movement, will make several major policy announcements and name the Party’s South Island candidates from the heart of the earthquake ravaged East of Christchurch on Wednesday evening.
The firebrand MP will address a public meeting at Aranui High School on Wednesday 21 September 2011 at 7.30pm.
“I think the people in the East of Christchurch need to know that there is one political movement out there that takes their concerns seriously,” said Mr Harawira ahead of the meeting. “The MANA Movement is committed to improving the lot of the poor and all those who are suffering. That’s why we’re holding this meeting in Aranui.”
“I think we have a real chance of taking this seat (Te Tai Tonga) from the Maori Party. After all, a vote for the Maori Party is a vote to put Don Brash back into Parliament. Our people - all those people who are suffering under the current government - don’t want a bar of that. We’re offering a genuine people-centred alternative.”
