2014 Parliamentary Committee Exchange with Australia
The Health Committee has been selected by the Speaker to participate in the 2014 select committee exchange with Australia.
In the week commencing 14 July 2014, six members of the committee, including National, Labour, and NZ First members, will be travelling to Australia to participate in the exchange programme. Topics to be investigated during the course of the week include the plain packaging of cigarettes, the improvement of children’s health and prevention of child abuse (including Australian strategies to prevent foetal alcohol disorder, reproductive health, and maternity systems), and skin cancer. The committee also intends to learn more about the Australian experience with the STAR food labelling system.
The committee looks forward to updating the house on its visit when it returns.
