Inquiry into Parliament’s legislative response to future national emergencies - deadline for submissions extended
The Regulations Review Committee has extended the date for interested parties to lodge submis-sions to the Inquiry into Parliament’s Legislative Response to Future National Emergencies, from 1 March 2015 to 1 June 2015.
The Inquiry considers recent legislative responses to major national emergencies.
It focuses on:
• Legislation and delegated legislation enabling major emergency response
• How emergency legislation was designed and utilised following the Canterbury earthquakes
• How legislation for other major national disasters (including floods, epidemics and warfare) em-power emergency responses
• How emergency powers should be transitioned to a state of normality and ultimately lifted
