Governor-General comments on the death of Les Munro
The Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae has noted the passing of Les Munro, the last remaining airman from the Dambuster Raid: “In this year where we are marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, it is more important than ever to honour the veterans of that conflict. The passing of Les Munro means another link with the endeavours of that generation has sadly passed on”.
