Key must explain why Health and Safety Bill pulled
John Key must explain why his Government is delaying the Health and Safety Bill when Pike River families have travelled to Wellington specifically to register their opposition, Opposition Leader Andrew Little says.
“Yesterday afternoon John Key suggested the bill may not come back to the House this week. That’s a very last minute move.
“This is an extremely controversial bill with the Pike River families travelling to Wellington for this moment and for a cross party discussion tonight. It’s appalling arrogance to waste their time and money like this.
“National has been wracked with internal divisions over this bill and had to delay it for months.
“If John Key doesn’t have the numbers he should front up and say so. Yet another delay shows either National’s callous disregard for public safety or that they are completely disorganised,” says Andrew Little.
