Financial Assistance for Live Organ Donors Bill

Public submissions are being invited on this bill. The closing date for submissions is Wednesday 7 October, 2015.

The Financial Assistance for Live Organ Donors Bill aims to provide financial assistance to those people who, for altruistic reasons, donate kidney or liver tissue for transplantation. It would provide 80% of lost earnings, or income-tested benefit entitlements, for a period of recovery after the surgery for up to 12 weeks. Childcare assistance support would also be provided if required.

Submissions should be forwarded by the due date, either online using our website (www.parliament.nz) or in writing to the address below. If a submitter wishes to appear before the committee, they need to state this clearly and provide a name, daytime phone number and email address. Submissions generally become public and are published on our website.
