Christchurch build a joke
Housing New Zealand has built just one house in the past month in Christchurch, says Labour’s Associate Housing spokesperson Poto Williams.
“If Housing New Zealand continues to only build one house a month it will be 2050 before the Government reaches its target of 700 homes promised in 2013.
“The new builds were supposed to be completed by the end of this year and given the fact that just 282 have been completed that is not going to happen.
“Bill English has been over promising and under delivering and resorting to talk about the number of consents that have been issued and not what has been finished.
“We still have high numbers of people on waiting lists who are forced to live in cars and sheds.
“The Government has to get real and build houses not just talk about it,” says Poto Williams.
