Redcliffs School closure flies in the face of sense
and the community
Hekia Parata’s interim decision to close Redcliffs school in Christchurch is bizarre, says Labour’s MP for Port Hills Ruth Dyson.
“Redcliffs and the wider community have been fighting this decision since the closure was proposed following the Christchurch earthquakes.
“During consultations over the proposed closure, 2769 locals wanted it moved back to Redcliffs and no one supported the closure.
“This site is safe and the community clearly supports the school being returned to Redcliffs.
“The Minister has no justification for this disappointing decision.
“I will continue to work for this wonderful community as they absorb this shocking and unreasonable news and I am sure they will continue to fight for the schools return,” says Ruth Dyson.
