Govt could crack down on Wicked rentals now
The Government can stop offensive messages on Wicked Campers vans by making complying with Advertising Standards a minimum standard for rental vehicles, Labour’s Transport spokesperson Sue Moroney says.
“Most New Zealanders and tourists don't want to be subjected to these misogynistic slogans and the Government has the tools to fix the problem.
“Wicked Campers has simply ignored Advertising Standards Authority rulings upholding complaints about the messages on its rentals.
“Rental vehicles that breach such rulings should be deemed to fail minimum standards and ordered off the roads.
“If Paula Bennett is serious about getting rid of offensive statements on these rentals, she should get her Government to act now,” Sue Moroney says.
