“Hero”: Waititi Praises Dictator
“Rawiri Waititi once said he’s not a fan of democracy. We need to start taking take him seriously,” says ACT MP Simon Court, responding to the news that Rawiri Waititi’s ‘hero’ is dictator Ibrahim Traoré.
"Ibrahim Traoré is a Marxist dictator who seized power in a coup in Burkina Faso, delayed elections, banned homosexuality, and whose armed forces are accused of killing scores of civilians.
“Which of Traoré’s views does Waititi agree with? We already know they share a distaste for democracy.
“The leader of a political party who wants to be in Government should be required to explain why he idolises someone like this.
“Te Pāti Māori wants an unelected te Tiriti commissioner to veto laws. They believe Māori should have different political rights. They’re not in Parliament to uphold democracy, but wreck it.
“How can Chris Hipkins and Labour consider working with someone with such insane views?”
