New Zealand And Canada Strengthening Inter-Parliamentary Relationships

Office of the Speaker of the NZ House of Representatives
Rt Hon Gerry Brownlee

A delegation of New Zealand Members of Parliament will travel to Canada from 2 – 8 November 2025.

They will participate in an inter-parliamentary programme aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary relationships and understanding of the New Zealand-Canada bilateral relationship and Canada’s political landscape.

The delegation is comprised of MPs Ryan Hamilton, Hūhana Lyndon, David MacLeod, and Dr Tracey McLellan.

The programme will begin in Vancouver followed by engagements with the Manitoba Legislative Assembly in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The second leg of the exchange will take place in Ottawa, Ontario, focusing on Canada’s Federal Parliament - the Senate and House of Commons.

This exchange reflects New Zealand’s ongoing commitment to international engagement and democratic collaboration.

Note:

Inter-Parliamentary Relations are a way for members of New Zealand’s Parliament to keep Parliament relevant, effective, and innovative. Dialogue between members of different parliaments increases mutual understanding between countries, develops best practise, and ensures New Zealand is playing an active part in the international community.

Members’ active participation in inter-parliamentary activities improves their knowledge and insights as legislators, which in turn improves parliamentary scrutiny of Government.
