Sir Dryden Spring, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Asia 2000 Foundation of New Zealand (Asia 2000), has welcomed the appointment of three new members to the Board by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Hon. Phil Goff. The new board members are Mr Simon Murdoch, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Hon. Peter Dunne, Chair of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and Ms Pansy Wong, MP and Opposition Spokesperson on Ethnic Affairs.

In announcing the appointments, Sir Dryden said, "I am pleased to welcome these three new members to the Asia 2000 board. Each has a wealth of unique experience, personal networks and skills which will be of considerable benefit to our organisation.

"The new appointments also reaffirm the long tradition of cross-party support for Asia 2000's work," Sir Dryden added. "The Asia 2000 Board has been extremely grateful for the advice and goodwill it has always received from across the parliamentary spectrum."

Asia 2000 is a non-profit organisation dedicated to building New Zealand's links with Asia in business, culture, education and media. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been responsible for appointing the board members of Asia 2000 since its inception in 1994.
