WELLINGTON ANTI-WAR ACTION THIS SATURDAY
A demonstration in Wellington this Saturday, part of a world-wide day of protest, will call for New Zealand to stay out of the looming war between the United States and Iraq.
“Helen Clark and the New Zealand government should make a stand and oppose this war, and not be bullied or bribed into sending forces to support a U.S. led invasion”, says Dougal McNeill, spokesperson for the group Wellington Peace Action, which is organising the protest.
“George Bush has failed to prove his case for a war with Iraq.”
“There is simply no justification for war. There is no real evidence that the Iraqi government has managed to conceal significant hardware or weapons development programmes,” said Mr McNeill.
The demonstration begins at Glover Park at 12 noon on Saturday, February 15th and will march to a rally at Midland Park. A further rally against the war will be held on the following Wednesday at 12:30pm at Parliament.
