Antiwar picket of Helen Clark meeting tonight
GPJA is asking supporters to join together for a picket at Helen Clarks meeting tonight to press the case for her to speak out against this war and withdraw NZ military forces from the Gulf. The frigate Te Mana is operating there now and among its official duties is escorting US warships through the Gulf.
Helen Clark has said she will not criticise the US, Britain and Australia if they launch a unilateral war and will contribute military forces if the UN Security Council sanctions this war. We believe its time for the government to say openly that this war is wrong and a UN Security Council sanction will not change its illegal and immoral character. The frigate should be withdrawn and the planned dispatch of an Orion surveillance plane to the Gulf should be stopped.
