Clarification of Employment Conditions
BIA Chairman Barry Brown made the following comments today to address some misleading statements around the continued employment of Bill Porteous within the BIA.
“Dr Porteous has resigned from his leadership role but he is not leaving the BIA as his technical skills are too valuable to lose.
“He will remain a permanent staff member, in a senior policy role. He will be employed on a standard government contract and his salary level will be consistent with that of a senior policy adviser in a government department, not a chief executive.
“There is no golden handshake. This is not a case of redundancy being offered.
“Dr Porteous has valuable academic and practical expertise in building science and we do not want to lose those skills.
“There
has been criticism of the BIA’s management skills and a new
chief executive has been appointed in the interim, to deal
with those issues, said Mr
Brown.”
