The Embassy of Peace and Justice will be opening on Friday morning, April 25 at 8:00am on the grounds of Parliament in Wellington. The public is invited to visit the Embassy all day and be issued with a 'Passport to Peace'. An Official Embassy delegation will visit the representatives of Australia, Britain and the United States to demand explanations for the recent violation of peace and justice in Iraq.
This space, operated by Peace Action Wellington, will be the site of teach-in sessions on Friday and Saturday afternoons from 2-6pm. On Friday, the focus will be on New Zealand in the world; invited speakers include Nicky Hager, author of Secret Powers, Peace Movement Aotearoa, and Sue Kedgley of the Green Party. On Saturday, the focus will be on international imperialism and the new miliartism. There will be educational material available as well opportunities for discussion and debate.
The Embassy will close on Sunday evening with a Candlelight vigil from 5-6pm at the Cenotaph. All are welcome.
