Normanby realignment funding approved
Funding has been
approved for the realignment of State highway 1 at Normanby,
just south of Timaru.
Transfund New Zealand approved $6.9
million for the project as part of its monthly National Land
Transport Programme review meeting on Wednesday last
week.
Southern Regional Manager Neil Bennett said he was
pleased that work would begin shortly on improving the
section of road, especially since it had claimed so many
lives.
The project comprises the realignment of a 3.17
kilometre section of SH1 with new north and southbound
passing lanes.
