Alliance welcomes Children’s Commissioner Appointment

Alliance Leader and former Youth Affairs Minister, Laila Harré has welcomed the appointment of Dr Cindy Kiro to the office of Children’s Commissioner.

“Cindy will bring a depth of knowledge and experience to the task, and enjoy the support of children’s advocates and of the children she will involve in the office’s work.

“While the profile of the office has been high over the years, and public advocacy has been strong, I hope the new Commissioner will also re-focus on the statutory task of the Office in monitoring our care and protection agencies.

“Too many children remain seriously at risk despite the involvement of such agencies,” said Laila Harré
