Unique Campaign Seeking To Extend Ge Moratorium Captures A Vote Every Two Seconds
At its’ peak voting times last week, Take 5 secured a vote every two seconds.
Using a unique blend of cellphone TXT-voting and internet voting, Take 5 has secured a total of 15,000 votes since it’s launch a week ago.
“This response has far exceeded our expectations” said Lisa Er, co-organiser of the Take 5 campaign. “Clearly Kiwis worldwide are passionate about keeping New Zealand clean and green”.
Take 5 is seeking a million votes to put pressure on the New Zealand Government to extend the GE moratorium by a further 5 years. The moratorium is due to be lifted on October 29, 2003.
“To
date, in the absence of our paid advertising campaign, we
have had to rely on the peer-to-peer viral aspect of Kiwis
communicating with each other globally. Ironically, we have
taken a leaf out of the GE contamination handbook to spread
our word, and, like GE once released, you can’t put this
campaign back in the lab” said Greg Menendez, co-organiser
of the Take 5
campaign.
