Debating all Dunne?

Libertarianz Deputy Leader Stephen Berry took the rare step of defending a Green MP, following emissions more toxic than cannabis smoke from Peter Dunne's office.

After refusing to debate Nandor Tanczos on the cannabis issue in Ohariu-Belmont - apparently because Tanczos' presence would 'affect house values' in Dunne's constituency - Peter Dunne has now 'conditionally' agreed to debate the cannabis issue with Tanczos. These conditions include Tanczos stepping down as an MP, handing himself into police for his 'crimes,' and giving the name of his cannabis supplier.'

Berry calls this "typically gutless talk from Dunne, who is nothing short of a body-controlling fascist." Tanczos may not be doing everything that is needed on cannabis law reform, says Berry, who maintains Tanczos' advocacy of liberalisation is a far better step than Dunne's alternative of imprisoning cannabis users.

Dunne says that as a law-breaker, Tanczos' role in Parliament is fraudulent; Berry says that given the laws that Parliament sees fit to pass that being a law-breaker sometimes has more integrity than being a law-maker. As Bob Dylan said, 'To live outside the law you must be honest.' "Should I go to Parliament," says Berry, "it would be as a representative of those demanding freedom from state control, rather than as a 'law-maker' function of the ilk of Dunne."

"I will also take this opportunity to offer a debate with Mr. Dunne over the validity of any drug laws" concludes Berry. "Mr. Dunne only has the name the time and place and I'll enthusiastically take him and his busybodies to task over his need to mind others' business. Does he have the guts?"
