We Fear For Our Safety Say Legacy Counter Rally
Don't hate, Celebrate! is a peaceful response to Destiny Churches 'Defend the Legacy' March in Queen Street, Auckland on March 5th.
Don't hate, Celebrate! has been organised by a group of individuals with the support of local church leaders.
Don't hate, Celebrate! organisers know it will not be safe place on Queen Street for those with differing viewpoints to Destiny Church.
During the 'Enough is Enough' March in Wellington members of the public encountered numerous shameful acts from Destiny Church members.
"People were spat on, pushed and subjected to abuse. They had Destiny people yelling, 'kill a homo for God', 'you are filthy and perverted'. This is not a safe environment either physically nor emotionally for anyone who disagrees with the Destiny Church", said Annalise Roache spokesperson for Don't hate, Celebrate!
"People's safety is of greatest concern. We have decided not to confront Destiny Church instead organising a peaceful response in the form of a fun, family festival".
Don't hate, Celebrate!
will be held at the Auckland University Quad, on Princess
Street from 11am to 2pm on March 5th. The festivities
include entertainment with Chris Knox, speakers including
Christians for Civil Unions, kids activities, stalls and fun
for the entire family, see the website
http://www.notmydestiny.org.nz for details.
