Action continues in Metals dispute
The metals industry will be hit by industrial action again tomorrow as workers push to settle their collective employment agreement, the trendsetting Metals and Manufacturing Agreement.
Auckland workers will hold a picket in Te Atatu, and at least 12 companies will be on strike.
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said that the workers were determined to get the two-month-old dispute settled.
“We know that many employers are wanting to settle, but there are some who do not,” he said. “Action will continue until the dispute is settled.”
The Metals and Manufacturing Industries Collective Agreement is the most influential private-sector agreement in the country, setting the going rates and conditions across the manufacturing sector.
