"Oh, to see again"
Grey Power Health Portfolio holder, Les Howard, hopes the extra $17 million that Government has allocated for Cataract operations will not be too late for some and he is thrilled that this initiative is sure to improve the quality of life for many of thousands of New Zealanders.
Furthermore, Grey Power applaud the mobile bus scheme as it is very difficult for people needing cataract operations to get to hospitals. Cataract, along with knee and hip operations, were some of the big concerns at the Grey Power AGM where, when the 120 delegates present were asked for a show of hands if they knew someone waiting for surgery, about 100 did.
We ask: how many will still be waiting? Let's hope this Government initiative is a step in the right direction.
